Cherie,
Hi, my name is Kate and my husband and I adopted Mia 7 months ago. She is now 13 months old. I've just finished reading your report "Her Special Hair" and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been extremely vigilant (or as my husband says "a bit crazy") about learning how to care for my daughter's African-American hair. (We are white). I have purchased MANY books on the subject and have talked with MANY African American as well...
Thank you again for your report. Like I said, I've purchased as many books as I could find and yours is the best.
Sincerely,
-Kate |
I really appreciate the information contained in Her Special Hair. I never was a "hair-doer" and growing up I wore two braids til I went to high school, didn't have any younger siblings and didn't play with dolls so my hair knowledge was limited. I wasn't ready for a little girl with hair that needed "doing." Now I have a tool that can help me and my daughter understand our natural hair and work together to find styles we both like!
The product is great; everything I expected and more.
Thanks so much!!!

Hello Cherie,
Thank you so much for writing this book. It really helped me out alot. You included plenty of information on how to care for my daughter's hair. I also learned alot of information for my hair as well. I loved the chapter about transition. I recently decided to go natural and it was very helpful. My daughter's hair is now growing and it even has a different texture since I've been using the mixture you suggested in the book. I even us it myself.
Thanks a lot,
Micah

"Dear Cherie,
...I am a Mother with 3 adopted children one of them is an African American little girl.- I really enjoy doing her hair but have heard so many opinions from all ethnic groups on how to take care of it - she has been my daughter for 3 years and is 4 years old, I have never been quite satisfied with any of the advise or products I've used.
I was very pleased to see your book offering natural hair care and I have already started using the hot olive oil treatment and the olive oil and conditioner mixture.
The illustrations in your book were fantastic and a lot of help in combing and styling her hair.
Thank you for the insights on how to take care of my daughters hair."

"Dear Cherie:
I can't thank you enough for this report! After two years of trying to work with my African-American daughter's hair, I had given up and was going to cut it into a short Afro.
I learned about your report from another mother online. After three hours on your site, I purchased the report and it's been
wonderful! The difference it has made in the time I spend with my daughter has been miraculous! We used to spend agonizing hours combing out, washing, and trying to braid her hair. My baby used to scream at the mere mention of shampooing her hair. Actually getting the job done was akin to washing
an angry cat.
For the first time, since getting your report, it was stress free. My daughter was actually laughing and smiling when I washed her hair this time! It felt wonderful, and took a lot of "mom" guilt off me about doing her hair!
...We switched to all-natural products three weeks ago! I am already seeing a difference in the softness of her hair, and no more dry spots! She's not losing as much, either. Now, I can braid and get beads in her hair, and we are both
happier. I'm still working on cornrows, but we will get it in time. I don't know what I'd do without your report! Thanks again for your wonderful product!"
Sincerely,

I am a happy customer of yours. I purchased your report and found it to be wonderful. I feel that I am doing a much better job at caring for my bi-racial daughter's hair.
After reading your report, cover to cover, at one sitting, I feel so much more confident in my ability to care for my daughter's hair.
My mother-in-law, sister-in-laws, and nieces are even finding your report beneficial.
Thank you, again, for writing your report and making it available."
Sincerely,

Just thought you would want to know how *awesome* your report is and what a great help it has been for us. We did Taneal's hair in the little bantu knots last week and a (Black) friend actually thought she'd been to a salon. (((brag brag))); but honestly, it was thanks to your report."

"Hi Cherie, I enjoyed the report immensely! ...I am just thrilled that you responded so quickly and answered my questions so completely! I have tried emailing others on the web for help with (my daughter's) hair, but no one ever responded. I am really looking forward to trying all the beads in her hair! Thanks again."

...And here is another email I received from Deb...
"Hi Cherie, Just wanted to drop you a short note and tell you that Elizabeth's hair was just beautiful for Christmas. I put about 20 little braids in her hair and then put about 8 beads on each braid...green, red, and white. Then, I pulled the top braids together and put one of those "ball" hair ties on. I took pictures, but my scanner is on the fritz. As soon as I can figure out what is wrong...can I send you a picture?
I re-did her hair today, just the way you suggested in the report and it was a piece of cake to comb out and style. I decided to try the "Bush Baby" look and it is SO cute! I did twists in the back of her head and then corn rows in the front, pulling everything to the crown of her head. She is adorable!!
Thanks again...happy New Year!

"...What you've done here is absolutely beautiful and amazing! It's evident how much TLC you put into this. Her Special Hair is one of THE best books I've seen on natural hair. I am NOT exaggerating!! I've seen some beautiful picture books on this subject, but nothing like what you've done..."

"As a stylist, I like to know facts and the best thing to do for the hair, this report does it for me. I think this is the information I've been looking for. I'm also going to pass your web address on to our adoption agency so they can put an announcement about it in the next newsletter. I know that there are many moms of Haitian and Ethiopian children that have been having a real struggle with their daughter's hair. Hopefully they will also order your report and get some help. ...I feel I'll be well prepared for my daughter's arrival and she'll have the cutest hairstyles in town! :-)"

"This is a WONDERFUL report!!! I would highly recommend it to anyone who is caring for highly textured hair. After reading this report I knew exactly what to do in order to care for my daughters’ hair! It was such a relief to know what to do, how to do it, and why it was what was best for them. Her Special Hair is written in such a way that engages the reader in the content from the very start, and also makes the reader feel like they have just had an informal but informative chat with a very good, and well informed friend!"

"Hi again, Cherie! ... I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful report that you wrote. I'm so happy that someone sent me the information about it. If they hadn't, I'd still be lost and my daughter's hair wouldn't be as lovely as it is, today. I went to many lists and boards and hit brick walls looking for information about how to care for my daughter's "special hair". Your report is just what I was looking for....wonderful photos and clear instructions on how to do numerous styles. Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I truly appreciate the report and your kindness. My daughter's hair looks fantastic and is growing beautifully! I can't say enough about your fabulous report! Take care!"

"Cherie, ...this report IS PHENOMENAL!!! My goodness. This book is useful to parents of ANY race. Heck, my black parents could have used this (information) when trying to figure out how to care for my nappy hair as a child. You are a God-sent."
